We are proud
The Times Parent Power Schools Guide ranked Meoncross School 10th in 2023. We could not be prouder of this achievement and to have the exceptional work of our pupils and staff recognised in such a prestigious publication.
We were placed 10th in the ‘Top fee paying schools with no sixth form’ category. Only the top 1,600 schools across the country feature in the guide, which is compiled based on examination results, and this accolade is a huge honour for us at Meoncross.
Our approach
Our academics are excellent and our results speak for themselves, but more than that, our pupils are happy, well-rounded individuals, who are as emotionally intelligent as they are academically. Our holistic approach ensures we educate the whole child, so they can benefit from an all-rounded education that will lead them onto their next adventure at college and beyond where they will continue to go from strength to strength.
Our Upper School curriculum has been lovingly crafted to be broad, creative, inspiring and challenging. All classes are taught by highly skilled and dedicated secondary subject specialists, who tailor their approach to the unique needs of their learners. We work hard to be the best teachers we can be, and we use a variety of inspiring teaching approaches that help foster a lifelong love of learning, whilst maximising progress.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 pupils, who have once again achieved outstanding results. As a richly academic school, we deliver aspirational and challenging learning experiences within a safe and caring environment. Our notable highlights reflect this success:
We assess progress in a wide range of ways to ensure we understand where each child is on their learning journey and teachers set individual targets to help them to improve. We report regularly on this to parents and include areas for improvement, as well as an indication as to how they are developing more holistically towards targets derived from national benchmarks.
This is in addition to providing full, written reports once per year and operating a system of Academic Mentoring, which provides all pupils with regular opportunities to discuss their academic and pastoral needs.
Year 7 is a highly significant year group and the first year of our Upper School. Having been prepared for this transition throughout their time with us in Year 6, pupils are already familiar with the Upper School environment. They have already established strong relationships with the teaching staff, so they are ready to begin Year 7 with confidence, enthusiasm and excitement. For pupils looking to join Meoncross in Year 7, our pupils and staff provide a warm welcome and become part of the Meoncross family quickly and with ease.
Our learning environments are calm and considered and full of pupils who not only want to be at school but are very happy to be here and want to work hard and do their best.
During Year 9, pupils begin their transition to the GCSE curriculum in the core subjects – English, Mathematics and Science – and before they make their final options choices, every child is able to experience the full range of subjects we offer, which encompasses a wide range of linguistic, cultural, creative and scientific subjects.
As well as their options choices, all pupils continue to study English, Maths, Science, PSHE and Core PE during Years 10 and 11.
At our Open Mornings you will have the opportunity to meet our Head and other key members of staff, and learn more about what a Meoncross education looks like.

Children in our Upper School can benefit from our varied and valuable opportunities through our Meoncross Activities Programme (MAP).
A range of fun, exciting and interesting extra-curricular activities both at lunchtimes and after school every week.
In addition to these after school and lunchtime clubs, we run 'Passport' activities every Wednesday afternoon for Years 1 - 8. Whether we are working on a collaborative whole school project of researching and appreciating a different country, taking part in a half termly project such as public speaking skills or completing an intergenerational project with a local care home such as our ‘Memories Project' venture, our pupils gain a deeper understanding of their place within the wider community and the world. They develop an even greater maturity and balanced view of society and cultures, and appreciate how they can play such an important part in making a positive difference to other people and our own planet.
We are also planning the following overseas trips for next academic year:
– Planned language residential to Madrid (Oct 23)
– Planned language residential to Germany (Nov 23)
Our Upper School Homework Club runs every day after school until 5.30pm.
It provides pupils with the opportunity to stay at school, supervised by a teacher should they need help, in order to complete their homework.
